I was asked a few weeks ago to write a guest blog post about our families experience at the Give Kids the World Village during Emily’s wish trip last April.
I was flattered and thrilled to share.
I though about our trip. I thought about what I would say. How could I describe our experience so that others would feel what we felt.
Eventually, I wrote the post….sent some of my favorite pictures….they read…. they loved…..BUT…..then they emailed me asking if I would be willing to remove a section that referenced our faith. Or rewrite that paragraph.
They explained that they like to keep the communications on their website non-denominational because there are families from all over the world with their own beliefs, etc.
Fair enough. I would have normally said “Um, NO!” and walked away with my head held high. But GKTW did so much for our family and I would hate for my story not to be shared with others.
Why am I telling you this?
Well….. as I was sitting here bummed about taking that part out of my blog post…I knew we would still REJOICE in the Lord….no matter what.
I also remembered seeing this wooden sign in an Etsy shop called Little Branches, so the day after writing the post, I ordered the sign.
I wanted to hang it up in my home to remind myself and my family to “REJOICE in the Lord Always”….even if everyone isn’t rejoicing with us.
