I packed our bag with snacks, sippy cup, portable DVD player, and of course my camera….. then pulled Emily across the grass in her red wagon to the bleachers. It was back to the softball field for Ashley’s first official game of the season tonight. Although it became a little chilly as the night went on, the girls played a great game beating the Pirates 12 to 9.
I am looking forward to more afternoons and evenings filled with catching, batting, sliding, home runs & “you’re outs”. (and don’t forget the text messages from the dugout saying “I need sunflower seeds”) I was never much of a sports lover but there’s something special about watching your own child play. I love the sound of the parents yelling with excitement when someone on the team makes a great play & sometimes mumbling a little something extra when they don’t. I love the sound of the girls in the outfield calling to each other & I love the sound you hear when a bat makes contact with a ball. Somehow the chill in the air doesn’t matter as much when you are lost in those memorable moments and I don’t even mind almost getting tagged by a foul ball……. my own daughter hit. LOL
Sometimes Ashley plays catcher and I was trying to get a good picture because she looks so darn cute out there……but I was hurrying and that umpire kept getting in my way…….don’t they know when a mom needs to get her pictures! hehe (sorry for the blurry one)
