We will have a very busy week!  The Williamstown Fire Department will be here on Tuesday for an assembly and a tour of the fire engines.  This Thursday we will see Rick Charette in concert at our school.  He is a wonderful singer/songwriter that gets the kids involved by using movement and easy lyrics.  Our theme for the week will be fire safety.  Our gross motor skill will be learning to stop, drop and roll in case of fire.  We will be learning what to do and where to go in case of a fire.  Our letter of the week will be D.  We will review the colors, red, yellow and blue.

During class:
Emily arrived in the best mood & it continued all day!
Very talkative today! She was trying to talk all day and even got very loud.

We are having a wonderful day!  Emily had a great speech session and then joined us at the fire assembly. She watched the firefighter put all of his gear on it and smiled the entire time.  We then went out to see the fire trucks.  As you will see by the attached photos she loved it!  Yes that is Emily in the truck!

Physical Therapy:
A+  Nice work running on her own and with hand held.  Very vocal today & giggly.
So cute today & very vocal during session.

Assembly:
You now have a Rick Charette fan!  She stayed for the entire show!

Gross Motor Lesson:
I was planning on working on rolling, however, Emily wanted to dance instead.  We will roll another time.

Don’t forget to develop a family plan in case of fire at your home.

Occupational Therapy:
Does Emily ever lay on her belly?  Did she crawl?  If so, how long?

I let the OT know that Emily does not lay on her belly, not even in bed.  She started crawling a few days after her first birthday and crawled until she took her first steps on her second birthday.  Not much after that.

I was attempting to get her to play on her belly and she did not like it! (It is good for sensory input and upper body strengthening). It is interesting to me from a “sensory point of view” on why she doesn’t not like that position. I have worked with children that do not like to be on their belly and they never crawled, that’s why I was curious about her crawling.  Hmmm something else to look into about Emily she sure gets me thinking!  I was trying to get her to push a bus and crawl on the floor here and she did quickly and then starting walking! She also told me nononono when I was asking her to play with clippo blocks!
