That is a good trait to have when you are a parent of a special needs child. There are times when you are cheering for simple accomplishments. There are times when you are secretly crying to yourself, as you watch a neighborhood child, who is the same age as yours….doing things you imagined the both of them doing together. There are times when you have to hold your head high & ignore the stares from children or even adults that don’t understand why Emily is making certain noises.
And although Em is non-verbal and cannot do a lot of things children her age can….we love watching her grow and learn at her own pace. Kind of like a sweet little turtle.
