pretty playtime quilt along week 10

July 18, 2024 by Tina 1 Comment

Good morning and welcome to week 10 of the Pretty Playtime Quilt Along.

This week we are making the cute kitty cat block.

I thought it would be fun to make my Kitty Cat block into a cute wall hanging for our guest room …. so I grabbed a stick from the yard, added some 2½” borders, a 5″ border on the bottom…..

and handstitched some burlap & applique hearts onto the bottom border piece.

Fun & kind of rustic right?

By now if you are sewing along with us you already have your copy of Pretty Playtime Quilts by Elea Lutz ….. {if not thats ok too} ….. you can pick one up at The Fat Quarter Shop and start whenever you like.

holiday wishes

July 13, 2024 by Tina 1 Comment

Christmas in July is in full force and we are making some fun things from the new Holiday Wishes Book by Sherri Falls this month.

I love Christmas and everything about it …. but I also love that fallish time of year, so I just had to share something that may take your holiday sewing in a different direction. Or may have just made your quilty to do list an eensy bit longer. #sorrynotsorry

I decided to use some Apricot & Persimmon by Carina Gardener along with the Gingham Stars pattern in the Holiday Wishes Book to create a festive table topper.

Good help is hard to find but I can always rely on my quilty kitties to be right by my side. Testing every inch.

Four gingham stars and a fall table topper is ready to go when October rolls around.

And in case you needed just a little more inspiration ….. click here or here to see what else I made from the Holiday Wishes Book.

We hope you’ll join The Fat Quarter Shop, Sherri Falls from A Quilting Life & the Fat Quarter Shop blogging crew ….. and get started on a little holiday sewing of your own.

Let’s just keep looking at it for awhile.

Are you dreaming of Pandas & quilts and making something fun now? Or maybe kittens that look like Pandas?

To get started, you can pick up a Pandalicious fabric bundle over at the Fat Quarter Shop.

Download your free Palisades pattern, right HERE.

And if you love a visual like I do …. the Fat Quarter Shop has a video tutorial on their You Tube Channel.

Happy quilting friends & Happy Birthday to one of the spunkiest, fun loving, talkative little girls I know!

And a big shout out to Art Gallery Fabrics for sending us the fabric so we can make these Palisades quilt samples to inspire all of you. Let’s go have a peek at some quilting inspiration from The Fat Quarter Shop blogging crew.

I knew the minute I saw this fabric bundle it would make such a nice gift for my sister in law. And if your like me …. you like to stow gifts away so your not scrambling at the last minute.

Oh wait, It doesn’t always work out that way does it?

I love going through my fabric collection and picking out a combination of fabrics for my projects ….. but sometimes it’s nice to just pick up a bundle that’s already made up for us. And today …. The Fort Worth Fabric Studio has this Friday fabric bundle called Petit Jardin waiting just for you.

The Crossroads Quilt Along - Intersection block

June 15, 2024 by Tina 1 Comment

Good morning from the East Coast ….. are you ready to make the Intersection Block #5 ???

The Crossroads Quilt Along is moving right along, I can’t believe we’ve been working on our quilts for 5 months now.

Intersection [in-ter-sek-shuh n]: a place where two or more roads meet. Life is a web of intersections …. and not only when we are driving to the fabric store.

Watch Kimberly’s video tutorial and download the pattern to get sewing. For every pattern download, they are only asking for a minimum $5 donation to the March of Dimes fundraiser. A great cause and you get to make something meaningful for your own family.

hello placemats

June 15, 2024 by Tina 5 Comments

Happy Wednesday everyone! Last week we made pincushions and this week we are making cute placemats. A household staple.

Well that, milk & more fabric.

Grab some of your favorite scrappy fabrics or charm squares and head over to The Fat Quarter Shop You Tube channel to watch Kimberly Jolly & Sherri McConnell’s video tutorial.

I used a red, white & blue colorway. Such a cute summer look right?

And of course a little bit of burlap & lace embelishment for a cottagey look.

Helpful tips:

  • Use quilt batting if you don’t have fusible fleece. I somehow never have fusible anything in my workshop.
  • Spray baste. It helps hold your fabric in place when quilting. Seasoned quilty veterans already know this.
  • If you quilt them in a crosshatch style ….. don’t be afraid to {also} stitch in the ditch so your placemat lays a little flatter.

Now pour yourself a glass of lemonade and go make yourself some placemats. Or buy some. Or all of the above. I mean can you ever really have enough placemats or lemonade?
