Welcome to day two of the Great Granny Squared Blog Tour hosted by Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet & the Fat Quarter Shop crew.
Granny squares are so fun & traditional and you can use different color combos for a new look each time.
Or you can add a little twist.
Today’s Menu:
Candy Cane Hershey Bars & a Christmas version of the great granny square quilt.
With a kitty twist.
My quilty kitty Roo was my inspiration for this fun project. She is always making herself comfy right in the middle of my quilts.
Whether they are done or not.
You can make this cute quilt with Lori’s book Great Granny Squared & her newest Barn Cat mini quilt pattern. Both can be found over at the Fat Quarter Shop.
I made 19 great granny square blocks, one barn cat mini, used red swiss dot for sashing & a basket of my favorite Kate Spain Christmas fabrics.
No adjustments needed for the Barn Cat mini ….. he snuggled right in perfectly with the great granny square blocks.
Meowy Christmas to all & to all a cozy quilty night!
It’s the holiday season and as crafters & makers we are all trying to squeeze in as many homemade things as we can. Don’t forget to take your time and enjoy making your quilts.
Life will happen. You may run out of thread when you least expect it. The real clock won’t match up with the clock in your head. Your four year old may decide she wants to switch bedrooms “right now” ….. or maybe you just need to make dinner, give a little snuggle or do a little laundry.
It’s not a competition to see who can make more quilts, or sewing bags, or gifts ….. it’s a little part of us we put into our work and I promise it will be worth the time, love & energy you put into it. Even if it takes a little longer than expected.
Three of my dearest & talented friends shared their granny square projects today too! Go take a peek!

- Debbie at Happy Little Cottage

Definitely you. Thanks for the smile and inspiration every day from you.
What a wonderful post and project! It’s a breath of fresh air. I ran into a very rude person in ig last evening and am still stunned by her behavior.
There are so very amazing ladies on instagram that are more generaous and kind hearted than you could ever imagine. But those few that are like the one you encountered last night remind us all to be a little more cautious. nice to meet you Carolyn.
SO cute, Tina! I love your Kate Spain stash, and the kitty is the perfect partner to the granny squares!

A meowy Christmas to you! Just adorable! I’m a cat lover, too.
Cats are on my quilts all the time, so it makes sense to sew one into the pattern. Very nice.
What a darling quilt. I love your beautiful ideas and your adorable posts. Very inspiring ! How do you do it all?!!!

I had to do a double take when I saw your kitty, Roo. My daughter had Roos’ sister, Snoo, with very similar colors! They could be siblings. Snoo lived to the ripe old age, for a kitty, of 17 or 18.
I love your kitty block! And the finished quilt is delightful!
