the whistful winds blog tour

October 12, 2024 by Tina 15 Comments

img_5693-2Good morning from the East Coast where we have been waking up to 40 degree temps and crisp fall air. It’s the perfect snuggle-your-quilt weather.

I’d like to introduce you to this adorably fun fabric line called Whistful Winds by Shari Butler of Doohikey Designs for Riley Blake fabrics.

Have you seen Shari’s Binding Babies? If you haven’t …. you must go take a peek at them. I never had so much fun binding a quit in my life. And wouldn’t they make the greatest stocking stuffers for your quilty friends?

img_5618-2I couldn’t wait to cut into this colorful fabric and make something to inspire all of you.

So after browsing through my pattern stash & my small library of quilt books I came across this pattern in the Growing Up Modern book by Allison Harris from Cluck Cluck Sew.

img_5694-3So snuggly. So sweet. And quilty kitty approved.

BONUS PROJECT: I know - you’ve seen one zipper bag you’ve seen them all. But it is sew fun to use your leftover scraps to make one. Then stash it in the “I need a gift” drawer.

I used the free simple zipper pouch tutorial by The Fat Quarter Shop but left off the binding. Stitched right sides together.

img_5696-2Thanks for stopping by for some whistful quilty inspiration.

Happy sewing friends ….. now I have to go climb back in for some snuggle time.

fat quarter shop baby blog tour

November 17, 2024 by Tina 5 Comments

Hello and welcome to my little corner of the web and one of your stops today on the Fat Quarter Baby blog tour where my blog title is a tongue twister.

Go ahead, give it a try …… fat quarter shop baby blog tour (ten times fast).

Expecting a new baby? Need a quick baby shower gift? Or maybe you just feel like making something cute …..

Whatever your reason or (non-reason) ….. you are going to have so much fun making quilts from Fat Quarter Baby.

If you don’t have a copy yet… you can pick one up here …. along with some of your favorite fabrics.

With 20 quilts to chose from, I grabbed some white essex linen along with a few of my favorite Sweetwater fabrics and made the “Christopher” quilt.

You can have one of these playful crib-sized quilts ready to wrap up in just one afternoon.

8 little ducks went out to play …. over the hills and far away ….. Mother duck said “Quack Quack Quack Quack” and all of the 8 little ducks came back.

Little ducks are timeless & probably bring back some childhood memories for all of us…. so why not create some new memories with a homemade baby quilt for yourself or for someone you love.

Homemade gifts are the best aren’t they?
