spooky delights quilt along week 3

May 9, 2024 by Tina 3 Comments

It’s week 3 of the Fat Quarter Shop’s Spooky Delights Quilt Along and today we get to add our borders and finish this runner up. How exciting is that?

Tinsel wanted to help out with the Spooky Delights runner this week …. or maybe she just wanted to catch one of those bats. #quiltykittycrew

So far …. we’ve chosen our fabrics. {week one}

UPDATE:
Many of you asked about the fabrics I used in my runner. I didn’t use a specific fabric line …. I went into my fabric stash and pulled oranges, blacks, grays, etc.
♥ White with black dots - Hobby Lobby ♥ orange with leaves & pumpkin head fabric - from Joanns ♥ black pinwheels, & black floral - Mama Said Sew by Sweetwater ♥ yellow backing - from Joanns ♥ black gingham - Feed Co. by Sweetwater ♥ black with white dots - also a Sweetwater fabric

Made our quilt center with cute pumpkin houses, flying bats and a crescent moon. {week two}

And today for the finale, we will add the borders to our Spooky Delights table runner. #spookysewing {week three}

You can download your third & final pattern, RIGHT HERE.

Then you can get busy quilting, binding and finishing up the rest.

Hows that for a quick and easy Halloween decoration?????

And don’t forget …. if you choose one of your favorite fall fabrics for the back of the runner, you can flip it over and use it even after Halloween.

Hooray for one more homemade halloween project under our belts. Happy spooky sewing friends!

spooky delights quilt along week 2

May 2, 2024 by Tina 4 Comments

BOO! Welcome back to Fat Quarter Shop’s Spooky Delights Quilt Along Week 2.

Are you ready to dive into your fun fabric choices from last week and make the center part of your runner?

Let’s talk about the applique bats & moon. Don’t be nervous.

There are so many ways to applique ….. you just have to pick whats best for you, there’s really no right or wrong way.

I usually add Heat n Bond to the back of my applique piece but since I ran out …. I spray basted my pieces and then zig zag stitched them to my center fabric piece.

Hello cute pumpkin houses….. welcome to the neighborhood.

SpookyDelights-SM2

Grab your center pattern compliments of the Fat Quarter Shop, RIGHT HERE and let’s get creating.

Have fun sewing & I’ll see you next week when we add our borders and finish up this spooky runner.

Until then ….. eat, sleep, sew, repeat.

HELPFUL TIP: The pattern asks you to cut your center fabric piece A - 10½ x 17½ and then trimming it down by an inch later on. I personally didn’t need that extra inch on each side of the fabric while I made my center piece ….. and actually missed trimming it down until it was too late.

If you cut your fabric piece A - 9½ x 16½ it will work out perfectly. No trimming later.

spooky delights quilt along

April 25, 2024 by Tina 5 Comments

There was a time in my life when I walked into a craft store in the middle of summer and wondered why on earth I was seeing fall things everywhere. I just didn’t understand why I couldn’t go in for some summer crafts & decor. I couldn’t even get one of those tiny American flags. Not one.

Would you like to know why?

It’s because crafters and makers plan ahead. Most of the time. It is way less stressful to make some handmade things before the actual holiday is here.

Who knew?

SpookyDelights-SM2

The Fat Quarter Shop is hosting a Spooky Delights Quilt Along and I can’t wait to get started.

Let’s do some Halloween planning of our own!

Click here to download the fabric requirements ……. then gather your favorite halloween themed or fall colored fabrics, and let’s make a Halloween runner together.

If you prefer a kit ….. Fat Quarter Shop has you covered. You can pick one up right HERE.

I chose some fabrics from my stash but the Spooky Delights fabric line is so fun ….. come take a peek.

Planahead it wasn’t raining when Noah built the Arc ….. I’ll see you back here next week when we start stitching.
