God sends us signs all the time. All you have to do is watch for them.
We are at one of those places in our life when decisions need to be made.
Not little ones, like whether to buy pink or yellow tulips.
But big ones, like whether or not to transfer Emily out of district to a special needs school.
We are nearing the end of another school year. Emily is currently in 2nd grade PDD and I will always be thankful for the small city of people that have worked with our daughter over the past 5 years.
But as Emily gets older, the curriculum will change. {as they do with any child} The expectations may change and the children will certainly change.
This past week we visited a new school. One that helps our children develop their skills to the fullest potential. One that will also concentrate on self-help and life skills. Strictly special needs children.
At the end of our tour, as we stood in the hall talking for a few minutes….one of the teachers said, “Do you know who that is over there?” That is Laura Numeroff. The author of Give a Mouse a Cookie.
Wait. What???? No way. I bought that book for Emily’s birthday and have it hidden away in my closet.
Laura walked up to us with a sweet casual smile on her face, stopped to say hello to Emily and posed for a quick picture.
Signs can be evident in the earth for all to see, or subtle for only your eyes. Ask God for direction and follow your heart.
Later that week, I was emotional. I was crying and second guessing myself. Was this right for Emily? Or was I making a mistake?
My oldest daughter sent me this text: “This next text will make sense in a couple of days.”
Trust in his timing, rely on his promises, wait for his answers, believe in his miracles, rejoice in his goodness, relax in his presence! …. you know you have made the right decision when there is peace in your heart.
Yesterday, a package arrived and in it was the plush mouse from “Give a Mouse a Cookie.” From my oldest daughter Brooke.
